According to some new potential leaks, Xiaomi may have phones with 50X digital zoom and 5X optical zoom in the works. This is in accordance with a recent XDA report on the analysis of the native camera app found in MIUI 11, a new version of a software skin based on Android 10.
The correspondents in question claim to have found provisions for 2 new modes in this app: "Tele 5X" and "Ultra Tele". The latter is allegedly linked to descriptive text reading: “use 50X zoom to capture distant objects in greater detail”. Furthermore, the blog claims to have found provision for 8K recording at 30 frames per second, something that may be supported by the upcoming Snapdragon 865 SoC.
As Xiaomi does indeed have access to 108MP image sensors, these next-level camera features just may be plausible. However, there are no guarantees that they will all arrive in the same phone - should they exist, of course. Then again, their various combinations would make nice additions to future devices also rumored to incorporate 120 hertz displays and under-display selfie cameras.
