Casio’s rugged, oversized AE-1500WHC digital watches have officially landed in the US market. They have pretty bold styling, and come with high utility at a very approachable price. Both the AE-1500WHC-1AV and AE-1500WHC-8AV are now listed on Casio’s US website for $45.95 each, following earlier sightings at European retailers.
These watches are built on the popular AE-1500 platform, which is now refreshed with colored displays - green on the 1AV and orange on the 8AV. Both models feature the same oversized resin build (54.4 × 51.3 × 15.8 mm). At just 59g, they’re quite lightweight yet visually substantial, especially for those who prefer a larger wrist presence.
Despite the low price, the feature list is somewhat stacked. You get a 1/100-second stopwatch, dual time zones, a 24-hour countdown timer with auto-repeat, five daily alarms (including one with snooze), and a full auto-calendar accurate until 2099. The backlight is amber LED with afterglow.
Battery life is another strong point of these watches - up to 10 years on a single CR2032 cell. Casio has also given these models a water resistance rating of 100 meters - another solid value proposition for the price.
While not part of the official G-Shock lineup, these AE-1500s deliver many of the same specs, but in a more straightforward package. They also have just enough visual character to stand out - especially the amber-on-gray 8AV, which has a unique retro-digital look. For buyers after practical function, bold style, and actual value, these are among Casio’s best sub-$50 options now shipping directly in the US. However, please note that the webpages explicitly mention "Limited Stock".
