Casio has released a new Vintage watch, the AQ800EG-9A, in the US. Launched in 2022, this model is already available in Europe. According to the company, the AQ800 is an updated version of the AQ450 from the 80s.
The AQ800EG-9A is a gold ion plated watch, measuring 40.7 x 32.1 x 8.7 mm (~1.60 x 1.26 x 0.34 inches) with a matching stainless steel strap. This hybrid watch has a primary analog dial with a gold-on-gold grid pattern. The indexes are a mix of black and gold, and the two analog hands are also gold toned. Beneath this is an angled LCD, with a golden hued screen. This can show the time in a second zone, as well as the date and the day of the week.
Other features of the AQ800 include a 1/100th second stopwatch, a daily alarm, and hourly time signals. It is said to remain accurate to within 30 seconds each month and has an automatic calendar. It is marketed as water resistant, for everyday use, running for around three years on an SR920W battery.
You can now buy the Casio Vintage AQ800EG-9A watch at the brand’s online store in the US for $94.95. This makes it significantly more expensive than the older silver tone AQ800E-7A watch, which retails for $64.95 (curr. $46.25 at Amazon). The AQ-800EG-9A watch is already available in various European countries, including the UK and Germany.
