The recently released Casio G-Shock Mudman GW-9502KJ-8 watch has appeared in hands-on photos. The images show the design in more detail, and indicate a couple of differences between the product and the marketing images at the Casio online store.
The G-Shock GW-9502KJ-8 is the latest addition to the Love the Sea and the Earth collection, designed in collaboration with Earthwatch Japan. This digital watch is said to be inspired by a hippopotamus. It has a round, positive (light background) display, surrounded by a black ring and a chunky bezel. The main piece of the bezel features a black and red-brown pattern, mimicking the skin of the hippo. This is accompanied by matte gray and matte brown casing elements. It is worth noting that the photos suggest that the buttons are more gold in color than bronze or rose gold, as indicated by the product listing.
The IRL images also show the resin band in more detail. The strap has a gray background, with a black and red-brown pattern matching the bezel. There is a raised dot pattern on the surface, a nod to the rough texture of the skin of the hippopotamus. Plus, the matte black strap loop, featuring the Earthwatch logo, contrasts nicely with the shinier finish on the band.
Casio’s GW-9502 is a radio-controlled watch, supporting 31 time zones. Tools include a compass, an altimeter, a barometer, and a thermometer. The mud-resistant model also offers sunrise/sunset times and Tough Solar charging. In Japan, it is priced at ¥ 64,900 (~$ 414). It is unclear whether or when it could be released in other countries like the US or Germany.
