The XGIMI HORIZON Max 4K projector debuted at CES 2024. With the device, the company aims to create a premium home cinema experience at a reduced price. The company has announced a partnership with IMAX and claims that this new product is the first IMAX Enhanced long throw projector in the world, at least at this price point.
The HORIZON Max has twin light sources, Dual Light 2.0, combining a triple laser and a phosphor light, for an ultra-wide color gamut and reduced imperfections. The projector has up to 3,100 ISO lumens brightness, making it 35% brighter than the HORIZON Ultra and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio. Another more unusual tool is Intelligent Screen Adaptation (ISA) 5.0 for image optimization. The feature means that using a motorized gimbal and 3D ToF, the projector can smartly select the best position on the wall to project onto and remember your chosen settings for a wall; the latter could be useful if you used different walls or rooms for gaming and watching movies.
Other typical image-perfecting tools include automatic brightness adjustments, keystone correction and scaling. XGIMI also announced plans to switch from Android to Google TV in 2024, though it has not expressly said this will also be true for the Max. Plus, the gadget supports Dolby Vision and DTS:X sound. The XGIMI HORIZON Max 4K projector is expected to launch in late 2024; an exact release date and pricing have yet to be revealed.
