The BenQ LH650 1080p projector has been officially announced. The new model has a laser light source with up to 4,000 lumens brightness and various energy-saving tools. Other features include a built-in speaker, support for HDR10 and multiple ports, including USB-C DP and HDMI 2.0.

BenQ has announced the LH650, a 1080p laser projector. The company says that it has designed the new model for use in a classroom or workspace. The projector covers 92% of the Rec. 709 color space with DLP technology for vivid hues and support for HDR10. You can use the device to cast images up to 100-in (~254 cm) wide from 2 to 3 m (~6.6 x 9.8 ft) away, thanks to a 1.15-1.5 throw ratio and 1.3X zoom.

The LH650 has a laser light source delivering up to 4,000 ANSI lumens brightness, making it suitable for brighter spaces, with a life expectancy of up to 20,000 hours when using Eco Mode. The projector’s SmartEco technology can intelligently adjust the brightness to optimize energy efficiency without impacting the quality of the picture, which BenQ claims saves 60% more energy than a typical Eco Mode. You can also use the Eco Blank button to quickly switch off the image to reduce energy usage; the projector automatically enters this mode after three minutes with no signal detected and powers down after 20 minutes of inactivity.

You can physically connect devices via USB-C DP, USB-A 2.0 and HDMI 2.0b/HDCP2.2 ports, and an optional Wi-Fi dongle provides wireless connectivity. Other features include a built-in 10W speaker, image-perfecting tools like 2D keystone correction and corner fit, and specific modes for presentations, infographics and spreadsheets. BenQ notes that the projector is compact, measuring 304 x 112 x 225 mm (~11.9 x 4.4 x 8.8-in) and weighing under 3 kg (~6.6 lbs). The BenQ LH650 Projector costs $1,199/£1,206.45/€1,309; the device is also available at Amazon US for the higher price of $1,378.75.
