The TCL S5 TV has been announced at CES 2024. The 4K model is a new addition to the budget 2024 S Class range. Compared to its predecessors, improvements offered by the S5 include 25% extra brightness, custom install capabilities and a new audio-enhancing tool for soundbar users.

TCL has unveiled its 2024 TV line-up at CES 2024, including a new model, the S5. Also announced at the conference were several Q Class models, including a 115-inch TV and a range of soundbars to add to your home theater set-up. The company has made numerous upgrades to its budget S Class TV range compared to the 2023 line-up.

A new addition to the S Class comes in the form of the S5, a 4K model available in sizes from 43-in to 85-in. The TV has an LED backlight for up to 25% extra brightness compared to older models. The panel combines with the latest TCL AIPQ Processor to deliver vivid colors. Other features of the S5 include support for HDR PRO+, Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The model also has built-in speakers and tools to optimize your listening experience, such as Enhanced Dialog Mode and the new TV as Center Channel Mode, ensuring the TV’s integrated speakers become the central channel when using a soundbar.

The company suggests the TV will be the first S Class model to have custom install capabilities, allowing a more comprehensive range of apps. Presumably, the S5 will have either Google TV or Roku TV as the OS, as is the case in the S4. TCL has not announced the release timetable or pricing for the S Class TVs. As an indication, the 2023 TCL 55-in S4 retails for $289.99 and is currently selling at the slightly lower price of $269.99 at Amazon.
