New TCL C955 Series 98-in 4K Mini LED TV revealed with gaming features
The TCL C955 Series 98-in TV has been launched in Japan. The new larger model has a 4K Mini LED display with Quantum Dot technology and more than four times the local dimming zones of the older C845 Series. The screen has a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits, supporting Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ and HLG formats. The screen has a native 120Hz refresh rate, with VRR for a maximum of 144Hz.
The C955 uses the Algo Engine Max II for AI image enhancement, MEMC motion smoothing, 4K upscaling and an improved contrast ratio. Built-in Google TV lets you stream content from services like YouTube, Amazon Prime and Netflix. Alternatively, you can wireless cast content from a mobile device via Apple AirPlay 2 or Chromecast. Other features include Google Assistant voice controls and an integrated speaker, compatible with Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD and DTS Virtual:X technologies.
There is a range of gaming features, such as Game Master, Game Accelerator, and Game Bar, and the gadget is AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certified. Plus, Game Mode activates the 4K@144Hz VRR with a 0.8ms response time, and you can connect your console via an HDMI 2.1 eARC port. You can now buy the TCL 98C955 TV in Japan for ¥979,980 (~US$6,948). It is unclear whether or when the new model could be released in other markets, such as North America or Europe.
