New Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU prices look ridiculous as RTX 5070 to touch $1,000

We recently reported that Nvidia was planning to implement another GPU price hike, increasing the price of GeForce RTX GPUs by up to 30%. This is a devastating increase at a time when GPUs with more than 8 GB of VRAM are already more expensive than their launch MSRPs. Noted insider @harukaze5719 has now collected the data from a couple of different sources to show the new prices of the GeForce RTX cards.
Per the data, we are looking at average prices of around:
- $783 for the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB
- $973 for the RTX 5070
- $1,408 for the RTX 5070 Ti
- $1,845 for the RTX 5080
- $3,843 for the RTX 5090
These prices are apparently based on Chinese market rates. So, the eventual prices in US could be different.
That said, we don’t expect new GeForce RTX GPUs prices to be considerably different when it comes to the US or other global markets. Hardware Unboxed, for instance, has already warned that the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is going to settle in the same price bracket as the RX 9070 XT. This is absurd and shamelessly anti-consumer, as the RX 9070 XT is more than 65% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB.
The scene looks even worse when we consider that “budget” GPUs like the RTX 5060 and the RTX 5050 will also reportedly see major price increases and will no longer be “budget” anymore. harukaze5719 reports that the RTX 5050 could end up with an average price of around $438, whereas the RTX 5060 and the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB could land at $499 and $589, respectively.
To give you an idea of how insane these price hikes are, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 cards launched at:
- $249 for the RTX 5050
- $299 for the RTX 5060
- $379 for the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB
- $429 for the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB
- $549 for the RTX 5070
- $749 for the RTX 5070 Ti
- $999 for the RTX 5080
- $1,999 for the RTX 5090
Fortunately, at the time of writing, you can still buy the RTX 5050, RTX 5060, RTX 5060 Ti, and more for cheaper than the proposed new prices. So, it could be a good time to buy a GeForce GPU if you are in desperate need of one. Conversely, the AMD Radeon RX 9000 cards are much cheaper than their GeForce RTX 50 competitors.
For instance, where the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is currently around $580 on Amazon, you can find the RX 9060 XT 16 GB for $470.
