Nvidia is expected to raise GeForce RTX GPU prices again by up to 30%

An Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 already costs $1,595 on Amazon today, while the same model was still available for $1,199 this past winter. But the end of rising graphics card prices is still nowhere in sight. According to a report by Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, Nvidia is raising prices for GPU packages, which include both a graphics chip and the associated graphics memory, by 20 to 30 percent.

This marks the third significant Nvidia GPU price increase since January. While the last price hike in May affected only the GeForce RTX 5090, this latest increase is expected to apply to all models. As a result, board partners are paying nearly a third more for GPUs than before. The price increase is likely to be passed on to end consumers once current inventory levels are depleted.

Since the situation regarding inventory levels and prices of GDDR graphics memory is currently changing from month to month, even graphics card manufacturers are reportedly unable to predict how prices for gaming graphics cards will develop over the coming months. Since the DRAM crisis is expected to last at least until 2028, it’s reasonable to assume that prices will continue to rise in the medium term before falling again as a result of expanded production capacity and the resulting improved availability. 

AMD and Intel have also already raised prices for GPUs and graphics memory this year. Gaming enthusiasts can hardly escape the DRAM crisis, as the Sony PlayStation 5, the Steam Deck, and the Nintendo Switch 2 have also seen price increases.
