New Casio G-Steel watches with full black IP coatings surface ahead of launch

Casio is reportedly preparing two new black colorways coming to its G-Steel lineup. Renders of the unannounced GST-B1000BD-1A and GST-B1000BD-2A models have surfaced ahead of an expected mid-summer reveal. The watches are the first-ever update to the GST-B1000 series since its autumn 2025 launch.
As per Casioblog, which has an extremely reliable track record, both models share the same 46.9 × 44.2 × 11.6mm case - relatively compact by G-Steel standards. The watch is built around a carbon core structure with damper inserts beneath the bezel. The case is way slimmer than older G-Steel references like the GST-B100D-1ACR (curr. $479 on Amazon). A cast-link bracelet combines mirror and satin finishing, with reinforced pins throughout.

The main differentiator between the two is the dial. The GST-B1000BD-1A goes full blackout - full IP coating across the case, bezel, and bracelet in dark gray to black, with Neobrite-coated hands and indices maintaining legibility. The GST-B1000BD-2A instead goes for a vivid blue dial against the blacked-out hardware, with a textured surface that will draw comparisons to the iconic DW-5000's brick pattern.
Feature-wise, both carry Bluetooth connectivity and solar charging. The watches include a 30-minute stopwatch, timer, daily alarm, Super Illuminator LED backlight, and a 24-hour time window. There's no on-watch battery indicator, though charge levels can be monitored through the Casio Watches companion app.
Pricing hasn't been confirmed, but based on the IP coating upgrade over base GST-B1000 models, an estimated street price of around $450 seems reasonable - roughly $30-40 above the standard variants.
