The Casio G-Shock G-Lide GBX100S-1 and GBX100S-2 watches could be launching in the US soon, following their recent release in Europe. These gadgets were rumored earlier this year and released in Japan in mid-May.
A recent report by the dedicated Casio blog G-Central suggests that these two GBX100S series watches could launch in the US in the near future. It also indicates that they will retail for $170 in this market, though the source of this pricing information is not referenced. In European countries like the Netherlands, Spain and Germany, you can now buy these surfing watches at the brand's online store for €169 each. In this region, they are known as the GBX-100S-1 and the GBX-100S-2.
The GBX100S have a stainless steel bezel with transparent casing, making them skeleton watches. Both feature a dark MIP LCD display background with light figures. While the GBX100S-1 has a black resin strap, the GBX100S-2 has a blue band, and they each measure 50.9 x 46 x 14.7 mm (~2.0 x 1.8 x 0.6 inches) and 66 g (~2.3 oz).
Features of the shock resistant GBX100S include Moon data, Tide graphs and Sunrise/sunset display. There is workout tracking, with metrics like distance, speed and pace; this data can be logged in the Casio Watches smartphone app thanks to Bluetooth connectivity. It supports a range of world time zones and also offers a stopwatch, countdown timer and daily alarm. Plus, this watch is water resistant to 200 m and is expected to run for around two years on the replaceable CR2032 battery.
It is unclear whether or when the Casio G-Shock G-Lide GBX100S-1 and GBX100S-2 watches will launch in the UK.
