New images and insider commentary have now shed more light on the upcoming Casio GMW-BZ5000D series - a pair of full-metal G-Shock watches expected to release later this year. The models, GMW-BZ5000D-1 (silver) and GMW-BZ5000GD-9 (gold), had previously surfaced through certification data and early images, but the latest screenshots confirm both colorways and some community reactions.
One of the most discussed aspects of the new watches is their display. According to Great G-Shock World, the LCD used in the BZ5000D series differs from the original GMW-B5000 line. The character of the display text and its visual impression has drawn comparisons to the original DW-5000 and GMW-B5000, with some early reactions calling the new screen design more difficult to accept. However, others do note that the fresh look means a whole new identity for the BZ5000D, especially given the use of a unique "MP" liquid crystal panel.
The new models will come with the iconic square full-metal G-Shock profile, but updated elements such as refined button guards and case finishing are visible. Both variants feature Multi-band 6, Tough Solar, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, and 200-meter water resistance - placing them on par with the B5000 (at least from a functional standpoint).
Also confirmed via recent documentation is the manufacturing origin: the GMW-BZ5000D watches will be produced in Japan, specifically at Casio's Yamagata factory. A launch window has not yet been confirmed, though speculation suggests a debut by late 2025.
