We previously reported on Casio’s Surfrider Foundation Japan collaboration model in May, and now, two months later, the G5600SFJ-9 is now officially available to buy in the US for $150. For reference, the model is part of Casio’s long-running "Love the Sea and the Earth" initiative and is based on the solar-powered G-5600UE platform.
For this year, Casio is going with a bright, sunrise-yellow case and strap made from mixed-color bio-based resin. Owing to the nature of the unique material blend, we have slightly different marbling and color textures on each individual piece, which every unit a little different. It also helps cut down on environmental impact, which is indubitably a core part of the collab's theme.
The digital watch features the Surfrider Foundation Japan logo on both the display face and case back, along with the hashtag #oceanfriendlylifestyle printed on the band keeper. The included packaging is also custom, adorned with coastal artwork and a branded cloth pouch.
Under the hood, this G-Shock runs on Casio's widely recognized Tough Solar system and includes a full range of utility features - 200-meter water resistance, 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, 5 alarms, world time, auto calendar, and LED backlight with selectable illumination duration. As expected from a 5600-series model, the case size is relatively compact at 46.7 × 43.2 × 12.7 mm, with a lightweight 47 g body. While functionally is still similar to the G-5600UE-1 and G-5600UE-1JF, this model will stand out mostly because of its vibrant resin finish and collaboration detailing.
It’s now listed for direct purchase on Casio’s official US site, shipping at $150 with limited availability.
