A few weeks after their official reveal, Casio has now started selling its latest GMA-P2100PC watches in Japan. It's a set of three pastel-accented models, and if compact G-Shocks are your thing, this lineup should appeal to you.
The new models - GMA-P2100PC-1AJF, -4AJF, and -7AJF - stick to the same downsized 2100 format we’ve seen before. But what makes these unique is the use of a polarized dial that shifts color depending on the angle of light, paired with a glossy index finish. That’s where the 'PC' in the name comes from - short for "polarized color." The theme seems to revolve around sunlight reflecting off the sea.
Build-wise, nothing too surprising here. All three use a matte-finish bio-resin for the case and strap, measure 46mm tall and just over 11mm thick, and weigh only 40g. They’ve got 20-bar water resistance, a three-year battery, LED lighting for both the dial and LCD, and the usual 2100-series functions: world time, stopwatch, timer, alarms, full auto-calendar, and so on. No Bluetooth or solar charging, but that’s expected for the price point.
The -1AJF (black) is probably the easiest pick if you're after a versatile everyday watch, while the -4AJF (beige) and -7AJF (white) have more of a seasonal, beach-y aesthetic. While the three new watches are listed under Casio’s women’s category, their neutral color schemes and clean design make them a solid unisex choice.
Each one is priced at ¥18,700 (~$127) in Japan. They're already available through Casio Japan's online store, and you can expect third-party sites to start listing them soon if they haven't already. A US launch should be on its way as well.
