A few months have passed since we got our hands on Gigabyte's first AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D-powered gaming laptop. Not only did we get to try the Aorus Master 16 Gen 2 during Computex 2026 in May, but we also reviewed it in August with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU.
As we discussed at the time, we were unable to confirm pricing or availability during our review. However, both the GeForce RTX 5080 and GeForce RTX 5090 have reached the US with the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, 32 GB RAM and a 240 Hz OLED display.
In our tests, the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D allowed the Aorus Master 16 Gen 2 with a GeForce RTX 5080 to outperform some GeForce RTX 5090-powered laptops. Currently, Gigabyte charges $3,399 for this SKU, which also comes with a 1 TB SSD and a 99 Wh battery. Incidentally, this battery lasted just over 5 hours in our Wi-Fi battery life tests.
By contrast, the Aorus Master 16 Gen 2 runs to $4,799 when configured with a GeForce RTX 5090. Also packing a 2 TB SSD, this SKU should outperform its GeForce RTX 5080-backed peer by about 19% in our benchmarks. With that said, this performance improvement costs over 40% more than the variant we reviewed earlier this year. Please see our review for more details about the Aorus Master 16 Gen 2.
