Unlike the recently reviewed HP Google Book 14c, the new Asus Googlebook is based on a business laptop. Asus employs the ExpertBook Ultra’s chassis here, combined with a matte OLED touchscreen.
Despite weighing under a kilogram, the device boasts a high-quality, sturdy construction. There are no compromises regarding connectivity, either: in addition to two Thunderbolt 4 ports, it offers two standard USB-A ports and an HDMI output. It is powered by a modern Intel Panther Lake processor which, paired with 16 GB of RAM, delivers more than enough performance for Android apps.
The matte OLED screen offers excellent brightness and is easy to use outdoors. However, our analysis yielded surprising results: the elevated black level, the active sRGB profile, and the significant color deviations are atypical for an OLED screen and do not align with Asus's technical specifications; we therefore suspect a software issue within the Googlebook OS.
Despite the large 70-watt-hour battery, the runtime in our Wi-Fi test is merely average at under 14 hours, and no 5G module is available.
All in all, this is a high-quality companion for daily use, though the operating system's limitations remain the biggest drawback. Full details are available in our comprehensive review.
