The Moto G (2026) is exactly what you’d expect from a $200 phone. Battery life is excellent, but performance is sluggish and the display comes with clear compromises. It still holds some advantages over the Galaxy A16, including a brighter, smoother screen and longer endurance. That said, I’d easily take the Galaxy A16’s higher resolution over the Moto G’s smoother display. Watching 720p YouTube videos is a dealbreaker for me. The A16 also offers six years of software support versus just two on the Moto G. For about $80 more, phones like the CMF Phone 2 Pro deliver a massive jump in performance and camera quality, while still matching the Moto G’s battery life. My advice is to spend the extra $80.

The moto g - 2026 smartphone looks flashy and new, but is really a phone made up of old tech and it performs like it. However, if you don’t worry about such things and just want a 5G phone that can take good photos and last a long time while you use it day to day, then it can be worth more to you than its price tag would have you believe.

The Moto G (2026) won't be for everyone. If you can afford more, a device like the Pixel 9a brings greater capabilities to the table while still not breaking the bank. And if performance and bright displays are high on your wish list, you should look elsewhere. Nevertheless, the Moto G's price is hard to beat, especially when you take the epic battery life into account. Camera performance is certainly good enough for a phone this cheap, and if that's important to you, Motorola's new model blends affordability with enough key features to justify what you do give up.

The 2026 Motorola Moto G is an affordable and attractive Android phone that handles the basics well enough. That said, it falls short on audio, camera, and display quality, all of which detract from the overall experience. Additionally, Motorola offers a significantly shorter software support window than its competitors. So while the Moto G's stylish design and low price are appealing, you'll get a lot more for the same $200 with the Samsung Galaxy A16, which is simply a better phone all around and our Editors' Choice in this price range.

One has two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores with up to 2.4 GHz each, while the other has six ARM Cortex-A55 energy-saving cores with up to 2.0 GHz each. LPDDR4x RAM with 2,133 MHz can be used as RAM and UFS 2.2 is supported as internal memory.
