Late in 2023, French leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer aka @OnLeaks has found (via Smartmania) the first official render images and some specs for the 2024 Moto G Play , which will be released in the new year with a completely new design. As you can see in the press images above and below, Motorola is taking a bold step away from the Moto G Play 2023 (available here on Amazon for only $99) triple cam setup based on three low-resolution 16/2/2 megapixel sensors and is instead giving us just one camera, which will presumably deliver much better quality thanks to its modern 50 megapixel sensor, pixel binning and 4K instead of just 1080p video recording. The 6.5 inch LC display also has some new tricks up its sleeve.
Although the chin at the bottom is still quite thick, this is acceptable considering the price range of the Moto G Play series. The replacement of the previous 720p panel with a more modern 90 Hz LCD with a resolution of 2,200 x 1,080 pixels is definitely a step forward. The punch-hole selfie cam is said to be an 8 megapixel shooter, and the battery is large enough at 5,000 mAh. USB-C, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, micro SD slot and a fingerprint sensor now integrated into the side of the power button complete the significantly more modern look of Motorola's entry-level phone in 2024. The Moto G Play 2024 should be launched in the US market for 169 US dollars according to the leaker.
