Reviews for the Motorola Edge 50

78.6% Motorola Edge 50 smartphone review – When luxury features meet a mid-range price | Notebookcheck
The Motorola Edge 50 is barely bigger than its predecessor, but it features a larger screen and a much more powerful battery. In addition, it boasts lots of storage and speedy 6 GHz WLAN. This is all good news, but are there also negatives about the phone?

80% Motorola Edge 50 review
Source: GSM Arena English
The Motorola Edge 50 is a capable midranger with its strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, the drawbacks are hard to overlook - relatively low raw performance for the price and short battery life. On the other hand, the Edge 50 provides dependable camera performance, good display, fast charging, wireless charging, and exceptional design. It's up to you to decide whether these traits can make up for the unimpressive battery life and the average performance.

63% Motorola Edge 50 Review: A mid-range contender with a few too many compromises
Source: Phone Arena English
The Motorola Edge 50 doesn't have the best camera system for the price, nor does it have the best performance. It's speakers produce quite lackluster audio and its battery life is not the most reliable. So, for the most part, we think the alternatives like the Pixel 8a and the Galaxy A55 are better in those regards. Even among its other phone models from this year, Motorola has much better options. For example, the Edge 50 Neo comes with very similar specs, but it does not have the weird camera stabilization issue and costs €100 less. Or you could go the other rout and pay €100 more for the Edge 50 Pro, which has a much faster chipset and a better main camera.

85% Motorola Edge 50 review: Look afar with this camera phone
Source: Gadgetguy English
The Motorola Edge 50 is a solid mid-range handset with excellent screen quality and all-day battery life, which ventures into premium territory when it comes to elegant design. It’s not a heavy-hitter when it comes to grunt, but the solid camera performance with the benefit of 3x optical zoom might win over those looking for a decent mid-range Android all-rounder.

Motorola Edge 50 and Edge 50 Neo hands-on review
Source: GSM Arena English
Motorola's Edge lineup has a strong presence in key markets around the world and offering a wide variety of phones with diverse feature sets is a big part of the reason why. This year's Edge 50 lineup is quite numerous, but the Neo seems like it has every chance of becoming the star of the family. It's the most compact, the second most affordable and yet it doesn't sacrifice virtually anything in terms of camera capabilities or screen quality. The IP68 certification and wireless charging are also still here, leaving the chipset as the only potential weak point. But without running our full sets of tests, it's too early to tell if the Neo and the vanilla are worth recommending. Still, we remain very optimistic about their prospects as we part ways and we hope to be able to share more about them in the coming weeks.

70% Motorola Edge 50 made me realise flagship smartphone experience need not cost a lot
Source: The Indian Express English
The Motorola Edge 50 is a near-perfect smartphone priced under Rs 30,000, except for its performance. Some of the popular phones in this class are almost twice as fast. However, they don’t offer as many features as the Edge 50. If you are a non-gamer and don’t really care about performance, but want a premium-looking smartphone with a solid set of features, the Edge 50 is a great pick.

The Motorola Edge 50 makes a strong case for itself in the sub-₹30K market. Its premium design, durable build, and impressive HDR10+ display make it a strong contender in its price range. 75% Motorola Edge 50 review: a well-rounded mid-ranger
Source: 91mobiles English
While the Motorola Edge 50 comes across as a feature-rich smartphone, it doesn’t cater to the needs of every user. It leaves out power-hungry users who like to game day in and day out on their smartphones. The Motorola Edge 50 is better suited for users with regular usage, which involves streaming shows and movies, browsing, scrolling through social media, taking good photos in daylight, and occasional gaming. All these, combined with a stylish design, military-grade durability, and features such as quick wired charging, wireless charging capabilities, and AI-backed software, make Motorola Edge 50 stand out as a solid choice for those seeking a well-rounded device at a competitive price.

Motorola Edge (2024) Smartphone Review
Source: OI Spice Tech News English
The Motorola Edge Gen 5, or to be precise, Motorola Edge (2024) is an exceptional mid-range smartphone. But is the phone able to justify the price point? Well, the Edge 2024 is undoubtedly a great update from last year’s Edge 2023 phone. You are getting almost everything if you are a casual user. The smartphone looks expensive compared to the price. Yet, it might not be the first choice for gamers and photography enthusiasts. However, a certain level of gaming and camera results is achievable with the hardware and software combination. But if you are looking for a value-for-money deal right now, then you should check out the Google Pixel 8A instead. It will bring an impeccable configuration of display, battery, beautiful camera, and performance.

Model:

Motorola Edge 50

The Motorola Edge 50 bridges the gap between premium mid-range and high-end smartphones. Its elegant design, vibrant display, and capable cameras make it appealing, though performance and heat management leave room for improvement. True to its name, this model features a curved-edge display that achieves an impressive 93.1% screen-to-body ratio. The back, available in chic Koala Gray, Jungle Green, and Peach Fuzz, is covered with artificial leather or suede, providing a premium feel. Compact with a 6.7-inch screen and weighing 180 grams, it is comfortable to hold, despite slightly protruding edges on its metal frame. Its Gorilla Glass 5 protection and IP68 rating ensure durability against drops and water exposure. Apart from that, the 120Hz display offers smooth touch response, with the under-display fingerprint sensor conveniently positioned for easy access. While vibrant, the panel lacks the colour depth of higher-end competitors. Talking about its camera, the triple-camera setup includes a 50MP Sony main sensor, delivering sharp, well-saturated images in most lighting conditions. Low-light performance is decent but could improve in dark areas. A 13MP wide-angle lens underperforms in sharpness and brightness, while a 10MP telephoto lens with optical stabilization enables clear zoom shots. The 32MP front camera uses pixel binning for detailed selfies, albeit with limited dynamic range.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, the Edge 50 handles everyday tasks smoothly. However, it falls behind its predecessor, the Edge 40, with its MediaTek Dimensity 8020, especially in graphics performance. Gaming is more suited for 30fps rather than 60fps. Storage, though ample, uses slower UFS 2.2 technology. However, it is worth noting that prolonged use leads to significant heat buildup, with the device reaching 55.9°C during intensive tasks. Surprisingly, this does not throttle the processor, but it may affect user comfort and long-term reliability. The 5000mAh battery offers moderate endurance. Charging is fast with 68W wired capability, taking just over an hour to reach full charge. Wireless charging is supported at 15W, though users must purchase a separate charger. Stereo speakers deliver loud and clear audio, though bass is limited. Bluetooth audio works flawlessly, supporting most codecs for high-quality playback. Connectivity options include NFC and dual SIM capability via eSIM and nano-SIM. However, the USB 2.0 port limits data transfer speeds, and display mirroring is restricted to wireless methods. Motorola emphasizes eco-friendly packaging, using recycled materials and water-based adhesives. However, sustainability efforts are undermined by the lack of repair instructions or spare parts availability. The Motorola Edge 50 offers a stylish design, solid camera performance, and decent battery life at an affordable price. However, slower storage, weaker graphics, and heating issues limit its appeal in the competitive mid-range market. It is a strong option for users prioritizing design and photography over raw power.

6.70":

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

Motorola: Founded in 1928, the US-based company mainly focuses on communication technology such as smartphones. The original company Motorola Inc was split up in 2011. Motorola Mobility got the smartphone division and was taken over by Google in 2012 and Lenovo in 2014.

The company is known for its cell phones and other electronic devices such as smartwatches, tablets and accessories. Motorola was one of the first companies to produce cell phones, and in recent years has also innovated in the areas of 5G technology and modular smartphones (Moto Mods). Motorola is also active in public safety and professional communications, providing solutions for government agencies, businesses and other organizations. The company has operations in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America and employs more than 10,000 people worldwide.

78.87%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
