It is safe to say that the Miyoo Flip has not got off to the best start. Initially the device appeared to sell well after spending almost a year in development. Positioned as an alternative to the RG35XX SP (curr. $78.98 on Amazon) with dual joysticks, reports quickly emerged of a Miyoo Flip V2 being in development to improve the device's hinge mechanism. Unfortunately, certain Miyoo Flip V2 units exhibit hinge issues, too.
Nonetheless, early information about an entirely new Miyoo clamshell has now surfaced online. As the image below show, the new model is much smaller than the existing Miyoo Flip. Consequently, it is expected to launch as the Miyoo Mini Flip, although it remains to be seen when at this stage. Regardless, the Mini Flip will inevitably draw comparisons with the Anbernic RG34XX SP and Powkiddy V90S rather than just the Miyoo Flip.
Based on the images that have emerged so far, it looks like the Miyoo Mini Flip features a circa 2.8-inch display like the Miyoo A30 and Miyoo Mini V4 before it. To that end, the Mini Flip is said to feature the latter's hardware, which would mean a 640 x 480-pixel panel powered by a 2,000 mAh battery. Unfortunately, it would also see the return of the Sigmastar SSD202D (2x ARM Cortex-A7) chipset and 128 MB of DDR3 RAM. The suggestion that the Mini Flip contains Wi-Fi connectivity implies that a different chipset could be on board, though.
