The manufacturer Game Console has returned with another copycat gaming handheld, having released its best approximation of a Powkiddy V20 last month. This time, the company has decided to ape the PlayStation Portal, almost a year after the arrival of the SJGAM M25.
On the face of it, the R50S and M25 are fairly similar. However, Game Console has made a few notable changes, including the adoption of a higher-resolution display. To recap, the M25 features a 480 x 272-pixel panel that spans 4.3-inches diagonally. By contrast, the R50S drops to 4-inches but with an 800 x 600-pixel native resolution.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not included a performance bump to compensate for the extra pixels the R50S will be driving. Instead, Game Console appears to have opted for the Rockchip RK3226 and 1 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, the combination of which is likely to result in worse performance than the M25 offers.
A 3,000 mAh battery remains too, which should be good for a few hours of gameplay between charges. Arguably, the performance drop is reflected in the R50S' price. Whereas the M25 arrived for $87.99, Game Console has priced the R50S at $66.66 with a 64 GB MicroSD card or $69.99 with a pre-loaded 128 GB card. Please see the R50S product listing for more information.
