The gaming handheld market has become rather saturated in the last few years. Arguably, Anbernic has been a major factor in that regard thanks to its never-ending release cycle culminating in last month's RG557 (curr. $339.99 on Amazon). However, that does not stop new entrants from emerging onto the scene.
To that end, a new model described as the first from a Japanese brand should soon be upon us. Scheduled for a full release later this week, the Tenku Luna unfortunately appears to bring precious little new to market. Instead, it seems that Tenku has taken a leaf out of the Asus ROG Ally's book.
For example, the Tenku Luna features a 7-inch, 1080p and 120 Hz display, just like both of Asus' gaming handhelds. Unusually, Tenku has opted for the older Ryzen 7 7840U, which AMD replaced with the Ryzen 7 8840U before moving on to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.
The Tenku Luna is not a straight ROG Ally impersonator, though. Instead, Tenku has opted for a 50 Wh battery and two USB4 ports, one mounted on the device's top and the second on its bottom. Pricing and availability remain unknown for now; Tenku has indicated that it will reveal full details on May 17 at 02:00 UTC, though.
