MINISFORUM readies Venus UM560 mini PC with AMD “Barcelo” Ryzen 5 5625U APU ↺
Apart from the new high-end Neptune mini PCs with discrete mobile-grade GPU, MINISFORUM is also introducing the Venus series featuring AMD’s “Barcelo” Ryzen APUs that come as a slight upgrade over original Ryzen 5000U models. These refreshed Ryzen 5 5625U still feature the old Vega 7 iGPUs that can now boost to 1.8 GHz plus six Zen 3 CPU cores with 12 threads that can reach 4.3 GHz frequencies.
The new Venus mini PCs support two DDR4 SO-DIMM slots for a maximum of 64 GB and also include an M.2 2280 slot for an NVMe SSD plus a 2.5-inch bay for SATA HDDs / SSDs. Motherboard port selection includes 3x USB-C (2x with DP support), 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, 2x USB 2.0, 2x HDMI video outputs, 1x GbE jack and an audio combo jack. The USB-C port on the back that offers DP support also has power delivery enabled so it can connect to the external 65 W power supply. MINISFORUM also provides a desk stand and the 5 x 5 x 1.8 inches case can be easily mounted to a monitor or wall.
Barebones with no RAM and storage start at US$359, but users can either add their own SO-DIMMs with NVMe SSDs and HDDs or opt for solutions supplied by MINISFORUM. In the latter case, a system with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage costs $439, while a configuration with 32 GB of RAM and 512 GB storage costs US$569. As always, these are promotional prices offered for initial backers.
