The Logitech MX Master 4 has once again leaked, this time via an Amazon Italy listing, officially giving us a look at what Logitech is planning for its new ergonomic mouse expected to arrive later this year. While it looks to have addressed some durability complaints, it appears as though the most common complaint about the MX Master 3S is still present in the MX Master 4. Users looking for a high-polling rate ergonomic mouse will seemingly still need to look to competitors like the Keychron M6 8K we recently reviewed.
Logitech also seems to have removed the included USB Type-C cable from the MX Master 4's packaging, if the Amazon listing is to be believed.
Leaked MX Master 4 upgrades
The Logitech MX Master 4 looks to offer what is mostly a visual and build quality upgrade over the MX Master 3S (curr. $109.99 on Amazon), as we reported on previously. Aside from the more obvious call-out to the gesture button on the thumb rest and the new forward thumb button, there seem to be very few visual changes to the mouse's design overall. That will be good news to some and bad news to those who were hoping for a more radical redesign.
One other major revision to the MX Master 4 is that Logitech seems to have changed the materials somewhat with the end-goal of making a mouse that's easier to keep clean and ultimately might end up being more durable as a result. Logitech claims that the MX Master 4 will be more resistant to stains and easier to clean compared to the MX Master 3S. Whether this pans out remains to be seen, but the deterioration of the TPU rubber has long plagued the MX Master series, and complaints of yellowing on white MX Master mice are commonplace on the r/Logitech subreddit.
It's still unclear whether Logitech has swapped out the rubber material on the back of the MX Master 4, but the texture has definitely changed, and the teaser video makes it seem as though it might be a hard plastic this time around. What is certain is that the main click buttons on the MX Master 4 will be made of a textured clear hard plastic this time around.
Where the physical changes seem minor, the internal updates seem to be even less substantial. There is no mention of any updated polling rates or new internals, and the battery life claim remains the same 70-day figure. The Amazon listing does also reveal new customisable Haptic Sense technology that is linked to the gesture control button and Logi Options+ software — the description of this seems to suggest customisable feedback when using the gesture control button.
