Amazon is looking to get in to the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) space with March of Giants, set in a World War 1 inspired steampunk universe. The game has been developed by Amazon Games Montreal, a studio comprised of several core team members behind Rainbow Six Siege. Alpha testing for the game starts early September and will give the team an idea of where they stand against the competition.
March of Giants is a free-to-play 4v4 war MOBA for PC. It is the first game developed by Amazon Games Montreal. The studio announced that the closed Alpha will start on September 2 and end on September 10. Those who are interested in checking the game out can request access on Steam. For now, it is only available in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
The studio describes the setting of the game as:
Set in a ravaged urban battlefield filled with marvels of science and magic and grounded in the technology of the early 1900s, players take the role of towering Giants in the final battle of a century-long conflict. As a War MOBA, March of Giants deals directly with military themes, allowing players to command thousands of soldiers in battle within the strategic framework of competitive MOBA gameplay.
Players play Giants who are war commanders on the frontlines and have unique abilities. They can command thousands of soldiers and also build tactical structures for both attack and defense. For the closed alpha, there will be a total of 15 Giants out of which 10 will be unlocked.
