Lighter than a kilogram: New 13-inch ThinkPad laptop with Intel Panther Lake announced

After not doing so at the MWC, Lenovo has lifted the cover off the newest version of its ThinkPad X13, the new Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7. This new business laptop is the smallest ThinkPad in the lineup, with a 13.3-inch screen. Alongside the small size, it also differentiates itself with the low starting weight, as the new model starts at just 936 g, making it the lightest ThinkPad laptop in the lineup.
On the outside, the new Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 looks exactly like last year's model, the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 6. This means that features like the port selection, keyboard and overall design language are unchanged to last year's model. In our review, the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 did leave some things to be desired when it came to the chassis and keyboard quality, it remains to be seen if Lenovo improved these areas in any shape or form.
Like with the 2025 model, the 2026 ThinkPad X13 clamshell will be offered in two distinct flavors: Customers can buy it with either AMD Ryzen AI 400 or Intel Panther Lake, also known as Intel Core Ultra 300. This is a step forward especially on the Intel side, as the 2025 model was limited to Arrow Lake and not offered with the more efficient Lunar Lake CPUs, so Panther Lake should hopefully bring some efficiency improvements.
According to Lenovo, the ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 will be released in May, with Intel models appearing on the market in mid-May and AMD model following suit in late May. It will be available with both 4G and 5G optionally, with a battery capacity of either 41 or 54.7 Wh.
The X13 Gen 7 laptop is not to be confused with the ThinkPad X13 Detachable, a hybrid 2-in-1 that was announced at MWC.
