AMD Ryzen AI 400 laptops on a budget: Lenovo launches ThinkPad L14 G7 and L16 G3

Aside from the ultra-mobile Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7, Lenovo Japan also announced two more new models: The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 and the Lenovo ThinkPad L16 Gen 3.
As ThinkPad L series laptops, these two target the budget sector of the enterprise sector. Corporate customers looking for the most affordable ThinkPad laptops that are still ready for the enterprise would typically buy the ThinkPad L series. The new L14 G7 and L16 G3 stay true to this image of the series, as they cut more expensive features, such as 5G, while still offering mobile internet connectivity with 4G instead.
Overall, as these new Lenovo ThinkPad laptops are refreshes, Lenovo does not change much compared to the previous ThinkPad L14 Gen 6 and ThinkPad L16 Gen 2. The design stays the same, and this also holds true for details such as the battery capacity, which ranges between 46.5 and 57 Wh. This also means that the L14 Gen 7 and L16 Gen 3 still offer three USB-A ports, a unique feature among the current ThinkPad laptops.
Changes mostly happen in only one place: The inside. Both the ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 and ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 will be offered with a choice of AMD Ryzen AI 400 CPUs (codename: Gorgon Point) and Intel Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake). This is a simplification compared with the previous generation, that were offered with a total of four different CPU platforms (Intel Arrow-Lake-U, Intel Raptor-Lake Refresh, AMD Hawk Point Refresh, AMD Krackan Point).
Both the Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 7 with its 14-inch screen and the Lenovo ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 with a 16-inch screen and numpad will be released in mid May, according to Lenovo.
