Lenovo has presented a new Gallium Nitride (GaN) USB Type-C. Sold as the Thinkplus Lipstick, the compact charger is powerful enough to recharge laptops, smartphones and tablets at up to 100 W via USB Type-C Power Delivery.

Lenovo has released a new charger in China, which it claims can recharge practically any device equipped with a USB Type-C port at full speed. Surprisingly, the company sells the accessory as the Thinkplus Lipstick, not to be confused with the ThinkBook series or the ThinkBook Plus Gen 3 that we reviewed earlier this year. Accordingly, it seems that Lenovo only offers the Thinkplus Lipstick as an optional accessory and does not bundle it with any laptops, smartphones or tablets.

According to the company's website, the charger measures 73 x 30 x 35 mm. In other words, the Thinkplus Lipstick is approximately the same size as the Anker 735. However, while Anker's charger peaks at 65 W, the Thinkplus Lipstick can deliver up to 100 W when needed. Sadly, it appears that Lenovo decided against integrating foldable socket pins, which would have reduced the charger's dimensions when travelling. Still, the Thinkplus Lipstick only weighs 171 g, while it design ensures that it will block any other sockets on an extension lead.

It is worth keeping in mind that Lenovo has included a single USB Type-C port, limiting the charger's versatility somewhat. Supposedly, the GaN charger offers up to 94% efficiency and can work continuously for 8,760 hours without any issues. Lenovo adds that the Thinkplus Lipstick supports not only USB Type-C Power Delivery, but also Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 for fast-charging smartphones. Lenovo will start selling the Thinkplus Lipstick with a 1.8-metre cable in China from November 7 for CNY 399 (~US$55). Unfortunately, Lenovo has not commented on whether it intends to offer the charger outside China yet.
