Lenovo releases new detachable ThinkPad in the US with Intel Core Ultra 7, 32GB RAM, and 2.8K 120Hz display

Lenovo has started selling its ThinkPad X13 Detachable in North America. The new Surface Pro 12 rival was announced in March and has since gone on sale in several countries, including Germany, the UK, and Australia.

To recap, the ThinkPad X13 Detachable Gen 1 sports Intel Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) processors, while the Surface Pro 12 (Notebookcheck review) uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 platform. The official specifications list configurations with up to 64GB of LPDDR5X-7467 RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. However, Lenovo currently offers just one preconfigured SKU in North America, featuring the Core Ultra 7 365 vPro, 32GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

As its name suggests, the ThinkPad X13 Detachable comes with a 13-inch display that separates from the folio keyboard, allowing it to work as a lightweight tablet. It matches the Surface Pro 12 with a 2880 x 1920 resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate, but Lenovo uses an IPS panel instead of OLED. That said, it reaches up to 500 nits of brightness and covers the full sRGB color gamut.

The included folio keyboard connects to the display via pogo pins and features white LED backlighting, a three-button trackpad, and a TrackPoint. The full setup weighs 2.76 pounds, while the tablet alone comes in at 1.96 pounds. The tablet houses a 5MP front camera, an 8MP rear camera, a built-in kickstand, and a 45Wh battery. Lenovo also bundles its Slim Pen, while connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a headphone jack.

Pricing starts at $3,039 in the US and CA$4,219 in Canada. Interestingly, B&H has listed a Core Ultra 5 335 variant with 32GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $2,956.80.
