IFA 2022 | Lenovo ThinkCentre M60q Chromebox Enterprise launches with Alder Lake silicon and Wi-Fi 6E
Lenovo has unveiled a number of serious monitors as part of its Tech Life event of today (September 1, 2022); however, they are only so useful without something similarly business-like to pair them with. Accordingly, the ThinkCentre M60q Chromebox Enterprise with support for up to 4 display outputs and the ability to tuck in neatly on or around the back of one of them has also been unveiled today.
The new Chrome OS device has been announced with an (unspecified) 12th-gen Intel Core i5 processor and, thus, support for Wi-Fi 6E in a chassis with classic ThinkCentre styling, albeit with markedly slim and light new dimensions. Therefore, Lenovo asserts that it could replace any portable mini-PC as well as form the hardware backbone for more traditional, professional Chromebox uses and settings.
These, according to the OEM, could range from a conference room with full remote facilities, an all-in-one self-service booth solution to front-line or first-responder work. Lenovo also touts the new ThinkCentre PC as a default choice for the IT department thanks to its ease of installation, which apparently involves a Zero-Touch set-up option that may not even require a monitor, as well as remote methods
Once the M60q Chromebox Enterprise is up, it is rated as capable of any requirement an organization could throw at it, virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI) or machines (VMs) included. It is also equipped with both Lenovo ThinkShield and a dedicated Google Titan C chip to deliver features such as verified boot, data integrity, sandboxing and general security.
The OEM has also pledged to ship each new M60q with its Premier Support service, up to and including next-workday device replacements if necessary. In cases that might need a whole fleet of new Chromeboxes, there is also Lenovo TruScale Device as a Service (DaaS), rated for flexible, streamlined scaling and comprehensive hardware/software regardless of employee location.
The ThinkCentre M60q Chromebox Enterprise has been priced at €299 (~US$298) and is projected to become available from the start of 2023.
