Lenovo has unveiled many products at IFA 2022 including Chromebooks, monitors and tablets. The Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook happens to be one of them. It is one of the higher-end Chromebooks money can buy and includes many features not often found on such machines. Its price tag will be revealed closer to its early 2023 launch window.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook's 16-inch screen has two configurations, one with a 2.5K resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, 120 Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 350 nits and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The other scales the resolution down to FHD, the peak brightness to 300 nits and the refresh rate to 60 Hz.
Hardware options for the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook are quite limited. One gets to pick between an Intel Core i3-1215U (2 P cores, 4 E cores, 15 W TDP) and an Intel Pentium 8505 (1 P core, 4 E cores, 15 W TDP). Memory and storage max out at 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, a 512 GB SSD and 128 GB eMMC module. Lenovo has neglected to mention the laptop's battery capacity but claims that it can last for up to 12 hours.
Connectivity options on the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook include two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, a micro SD card slot and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.0 are also supported. The laptop measures 356.5 mm x 253 mm x 19.95 mm (14.3 in x 10.0 in x 0.8 in) and weighs 1.8 kgs (4.1 lbs). Other features include a 1080p webcam and a full Numpad on the keyboard.
