Lenovo launched the Legion Y700 4th Generation yesterday as the new compact Android tablet to beat thanks to its 165 Hz display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Based on past performance, the tablet could arrive later this year globally to replace the Legion Tab Gen 3 that we recently reviewed.
While the so-called Legion Tab Gen 4 is the star of the show, Lenovo has fully detailed the tablet's innovative accessory that transforms it into an Android gaming handheld too. Contrary to pre-release teasers, Lenovo has introduced two variants, which it offers in China as the Legion Game Controller G9 and G9 Pro.
Based on the image below, both variants bring Hall effect joysticks and triggers to the Legion Tab Gen 4, as well as configurable RGB light strips. Incidentally, the G9 and G9 Pro also feature trigger switches to modify trigger responsiveness. Moreover, the accessory adds four macro rear-facing buttons, which sit within ergonomic grips.
On top of that, the G9 Pro adds a superior haptic feedback system and optical ABXY switches. Early pictures showcasing the Legion Tab Gen 4 inside the G9 have also been posted online. Arguably, the combination should see Lenovo's latest tablet compete with dedicated Android gaming tablets like the Ayn Odin2 (curr. $449 on Amazon). Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether Lenovo will offer the G9 or G9 Pro globally yet.
