Almost two weeks have now passed since Digital Chat Station shared alleged details about Lenovo's next gaming-focused tablet. For context, the company presented the Legion Y700 4th Gen in May as one of the first tablets equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Now offered in larger alternatives like the OnePlus Pad 3 (curr. $640.99 on Amazon), the Snapdragon 8 Elite can also be found in other options that more closely rival the Legion Y700 4th Gen, like the RedMagic Astra that we reviewed earlier this year.
Now Smart Pikachu has chimed in, adding that Lenovo 'will continue iterating' on its compact flagship division with newer models. Writing on Weibo, the popular account reiterates that the next Legion Y700 will retain a 16:10 aspect ratio display, which they claim is 'better suited for gaming'. Moreover, Smart Pikachu believes that Lenovo is developing the Legion Y700 5th Gen with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 too.
Incidentally, the same source indicated that a cheaper Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 variant could be in the works as well. More information about both models remain unknown for now, beyond what Digital Chat Station reported previously, which we have covered separately. Unfortunately, Smart Pikachu does not provide any greater clarity about a release date that Digital Chat Station pegged for 1H 2026.
Given that details about a Legion Y700 5th Gen model have now reached popular Weibo accounts, it seems unlikely that we will see Lenovo offering the Legion Y700 Gen 4 globally under its Legion Tab series as the Legion Tab 4. As it stands, the Legion Tab 3 seems set to remain Lenovo's most recent global offering, despite its reliance on Qualcomm's ageing Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
