Xiaomi’s next-generation mid-range smartphones are set to hit the global market soon. While the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro are expected to be priced higher internationally than in China, a leaked spec sheet reveals that the devices will also receive several upgrades.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 and the Redmi Note 17 Pro were officially unveiled in China back in mid-July. A recent leak has already revealed that these mid-range smartphones will soon be launched in Europe as well, alongside a new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. Just as was the case with the Redmi Note 15 ($219 on Amazon), Xiaomi is apparently making some changes for the international launch.

The Redmi Note 17 is expected to be available internationally either as a 4G version with the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 or as a 5G model with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. In either case, Xiaomi is expected to include a 6.99-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a brightness of 1,800 nits, and a resolution of 2,396 x 1,080 pixels. While Xiaomi is expected to include a 50-megapixel f/1.8 main camera, just as in the Chinese version, the selfie camera is reportedly getting an upgrade from an 8-megapixel to a 16-megapixel sensor. In exchange, the battery capacity is expected to decrease from 8,000 mAh to 7,700 mAh; charging will continue to be via USB-C at up to 45 watts.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro features a slightly more compact 6.83-inch display. The 120 Hz AMOLED panel is said to offer a higher resolution of 2,772 x 1,280 pixels and a peak HDR brightness of 3,500 nits. The Pro model is also said to be significantly more durable, with the display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the body is IP68-certified and therefore waterproof. While Xiaomi is expected to carry over the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 from the Chinese version, two camera upgrades are reportedly planned.

First, the 50 MP main camera is said to be paired with an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, instead of just a useless 2 MP sensor. And second, the Pro model will also receive an upgrade to a 16 MP front-facing camera. In exchange, the battery capacity is expected to shrink from 9,000 mAh to 8,340 mAh. Those who opt for the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will apparently get nearly the same specs as the Redmi Note 17 Pro, but with a faster Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, a 32 MP selfie camera, and a larger 9,210 mAh battery with 100-watt fast charging.
