Leak: Fairphone 6+ is launching soon with surprising upgrade
The Fairphone 6 was released in June 2025, about two years after the Fairphone 5. If the manufacturer continues to stick to this schedule, it will be about another year until the launch of the Fairphone 7. However, NieuweMobiel has already uncovered information about a Fairphone 6+, which could be planned as an interim model before the Fairphone 7.
Such a strategy is not unusual for Fairphone. With the Fairphone 3+, for example, the manufacturer previously released a variant of the Fairphone 3 that was primarily equipped with better cameras at the time. This leak already reveals what is likely to be one of the Fairphone 6+’s most significant upgrades: the mid-range smartphone is expected to have 12 GB of RAM instead of just 8 GB. This is quite surprising given the rapidly rising costs of RAM during the DRAM crisis.
As before, the Fairphone is expected to feature 256 GB of flash storage, which can presumably still be expanded with a microSD card. Another new development is that while the Fairphone 6+ will continue to be offered in green and black, the white version will reportedly be replaced by a "Cobalt Blue" variant. The Fairphone 6 is currently available at a list price of €549. The RAM upgrade is likely to make the Fairphone 6+ more expensive.
No further details regarding specifications or the launch date are known at this time. In our in-depth review, the Fairphone 6 scored points for its ease of repair, eight years of updates, and long battery life, however, we found it lacking a waterproof case, USB 3.0, and a brighter display.
