Latest iOS beta reveals references to M5 Max and M5 Ultra SoCs, while the mid-range M5 Pro is notably absent

Hidden identifiers inside iOS 26.3 Beta have revealed that Apple might be gearing up to launch its M5 Max and M5 Ultra SoCs pretty soon. This appears to indicate that the M5 Ultra Mac Studio might launch sooner than previously thought.

Apple is expected to arrive with the M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros very soon, joining the vanilla M5 MacBook Pro (curr. $1,875 on Amazon). A plethora of rumors and tips have pointed at the imminent launch of the fresh high-end MacBooks, with a recent tidbit revealing an interesting set of SoCs.

It is common for unreleased SoCs to be spotted in OS betas, and something very similar appears to have happened yet again. In the latest iOS 26.3 beta, developer Nicolás Alvarez spotted references to two unreleased Apple M-series SoCs - T6051 and T6052 with H17C and H17D as platform names respectively.

As pointed out by MacRumors, the "C" and "D" chips likely refer to M5 Max and M5 Ultra SKUs, going by Apple's previous naming schemes. This is interesting because there appears to be no mention of a Pro variant.

Considering that high-end MacBook Pros are likely only a few days away, it is quite confusing why there was no mention of an M5 Pro. It is, of course, entirely possible that Apple will add the identifier for the M5 Pro SoC soon, but there is also a possibility that the refreshed Mac Studio might be released earlier than expected.

MacRumors states that Apple may also equip the high-end MacBook Pros with the M5 Max and M5 Ultra SoCs, but that is highly unlikely since the MacBook simply cannot afford to manage power and thermal requirements of an Ultra SoC without making severe battery life and efficiency sacrifices.
