Apple is reportedly getting ready to launch the MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max processors in early 2026. These laptops are expected to be joined with a MacBook Air that's powered by the base M5. While these will bring a noticeable boost in terms of performance, they are less likely to look different than their predecessors.
As for the lineup that's expected to see a redesign, it's the MacBook Pro series that's powered by the Apple M6 line of processors. To be specific, in mid-October 2025, Mark Gurman shared that the M6-based Apple MacBook Pro could be offered with an OLED display and touch support. That report also hinted at a thinner chassis and potential Dynamic Island implementation, which would get rid of the notch found in the recent models.
The Bloomberg analyst now shares that the redesign may be exclusive to the MacBook Pro models with the Apple M6 Pro and M6 Max. This could drive sales for the higher-end models and make the base model less identical to the more expensive offerings.
In the new report, Mark reiterates that the launch of the redesigned MacBook Pro is set for between late 2026 and early 2027. The analyst also brought up the affordable Apple laptop, codenamed J700, in the latest newsletter. However, Mark didn't share anything new about the rumored "Chromebook-killing" laptop
For those who missed our past coverage, it's expected to be powered by an iPhone SoC, which will reportedly offer the same level of performance as the Apple M1. As for the price point, it's rumored to be set at around $600, making it stand directly against mid-range Chromebook and affordable Windows laptops (Yoga 7 Gen 10 curr. $699.99 on Lenovo).
