MacBook Pro with OLED panel tipped to arrive in late 2026

Apple is expected to reveal new M4 Pro and M4 Max-powered MacBook Pro refreshes in the coming days. Both notebooks are expected to offer little more than a SoC upgrade. Now, a new report from The Elec suggests Apple plans to launch yet another MacBook Pro variant later in 2026, and it will feature one of the most sought-after features: an OLED screen.
Samsung Display will apparently start mass-producing 14-inch and 16-inch OLED panels for a MacBook Pro variant sometime in May 2026, with an official release expected to follow in Q4 2026. It aligns with an earlier report that hinted at a late-2026 to early-2027 release date. The Elec states not all components have been finished, likely due to Apple changing design parameters to offset price increases. The OLED panel is also expected to bring touch functionality to the MacBook Pro; another first for an Apple laptop.
Other notable upgrades could include a FaceID module and a redesigned screen with a Dynamic Island instead of a notch. Of course, it will also come with a brand-new Apple M6-series chip. That said, Mark Gurman stated earlier that the MacBook Pro with the base Apple M6 will miss out on the OLED screen and chassis redesign. Instead, the upgrades will be exclusive to the higher-end M6 Pro and M6 Max variants. If true, there’s a chance Apple might reveal all three MacBook Pro flavours and three new laptop SoCs all in one go.
