Streets of Rogue, developed by Matt Dabrowski and published by tinyBuild, was released in July 2019. It combines roguelike mechanics with sandbox-style freedom, all wrapped in a dose of anarchic humor. Set in a dark, dystopian metropolis ruled by a corrupt mayor, players join a rebel faction determined to overthrow the oppressive regime and take back the city.
Players fight their way through a city where almost anything goes. In true sandbox fashion, missions can be approached in countless ways – sneak past enemies, strike a deal, hack security systems, or unleash total chaos. As a roguelike, Streets of Rogue offers a fresh experience with every run: levels are procedurally generated and never look the same twice. But death comes at a price – lose your gear, weapons, and mission progress, and start the rebellion all over again. Only permanent upgrades and unlocked characters carry over between runs.
Streets of Rogue received a solid 8 out of 10 from GameSpew, which praised its chaotic gameplay and anarchic humor for delivering high entertainment value. With more than 20 unlockable characters – ranging from soldiers to bartenders – and dynamic mission design, the game offers strong replayability. However, GameSpew noted that the objectives can sometimes feel too generic, often revolving around killing or stealing. They also mentioned that combat may feel a bit imprecise during hectic moments. On Steam, the game boasts around 22,000 reviews, 96% of which are positive. It’s also marked as "Playable" on the Steam Deck (which is currently priced at around $440 on Amazon).
80% discount on Steam
Streets of Rogue normally sells for around $20 on Steam, but it’s currently 80% off until November 10, bringing the price down to just under $4. According to SteamDB, this matches the game’s lowest recorded price – although it’s not the first time it has been discounted this heavily.
