Reviews for the LG Gram SuperSlim (2023)
A low weight (990 g, ~2.18 lb), slim case (≤ 12.55 mm, ~0.49 in), and bright OLED display (15.6 in, FHD) that is rich in contrast represent the highlights of the LG Gram SuperSlim. Additional positive features include two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a very good battery life.

At first look, the LG gram SuperSlim will impress most users. It is light, thin and really nice to look at. The inclusion of a beautiful 15.6-inch OLED display makes this device a joy to look at while consuming videos and content. Unless you’re after the most portable device available then you’ll be better off considering other options like the Apple 15-inch MacBook Air or Dell's XPS 15. These are both at the same price point and deliver the same quality displays but it’s under the hood where they set themselves apart. Computer power and better graphics performance are vital for creatives and gamers, two things that the LG gram SuperSlim unfortunately seriously lacks.

The 15.6-inch OLED LG SuperSlim makes a good impression with its incredibly lightweight dimensions and lovely OLED screen. It’s ideally suited for busy professionals who want a laptop that’s capable, attractive, and easy to move from home to office to boardroom – and will take proper care of it during transport. The large 15.6-inch screen is also handy to fit more on screen than the 14-inch Gram and is very nice on the eyes. Battery life will keep pace with long, busy days, and while the screen is bright and colourful, high-end content professionals will want higher resolutions. However, size and weight bring compromises in terms of durability, along with some lower-spec components compared to other models at this price point. At the time of writing, you can pick up a 15.6-inch OLED LG Gram SuperSlim at JB Hi-Fi for $2,399, a decent saving on its $3,299 RRP.

While LG can't quite claim this is the world's slimmest 15in laptop, and it definitely isn't the fastest, it is one of the lightest – and one of the best. Windows 11 flies, battery life is superb, it's relatively easy to repair, the webcam is top-notch and even if the screen has weaknesses, it packs an impact in films. As do the speakers. It's expensive, but if portability is your priority then the LG Gram SuperSlim should rise to the top of your shortlist.

The LG Gram SuperSlim is a laptop designed for a particular niche. It offers a big 15.6-inch display, lots of memory, and gobs of solid state storage, but lacks the CPU and GPU performance most people will expect in a large laptop with a base price of $1,699.99. The LG Gram SuperSlim could make sense if you want a large laptop only because you prefer a big screen, or if you want a large laptop that feels smaller than it is. If you want performance, however, you’ll be happier with a larger, thicker laptop like the Dell XPS 15 or Asus Vivobook 16X OLED.

The LG Gram SuperSlim is certainly not without its charms, from its phenomenally thin and light chassis to its attractive OLED display and outstanding battery life. Unless you need the absolutely thinnest and lightest 15-inch laptop, however, you'll find better values among competing models like Apple's 15-inch MacBook Air or Dell's XPS 15. The latter costs more but nets you a 4K OLED screen and Nvidia RTX graphics, two items crucial for content creation where the LG's integrated graphics and relatively low-res display let it down. Without a use case for content creators or gamers, the SuperSlim is a tough sell at two grand, unless you want to combine big-screen portability with bragging rights for the thinnest laptop in the conference room or coffee shop.

Who is the LG Gram SuperSlim for? People who need something super light and ultrathin to carry around, whether they’re remote-work travelers who want to explore the world or office commuters who can’t stand the thought of lugging around a heavy laptop. Remember — this is the world’s thinnest laptop! Plus, it nets you a spacious, 15.6-inch screen. However, if you often work outdoors, I’d skip the SuperSlim because it’s on the dimmer side. (Check out my best bright laptops recommendations) If you’re a content creator and you need more graphics power (this is one of the SuperSlim’s weaknesses), snag the LG Gram 17 — it’s packed with a discrete GPU, and when we reviewed it, we were blown away by its vivid display, 13-hour battery life, stellar performance and more. LG has been knocking it out of the park, delivering excellent laptops this year. Before you know it, our best laptops list may be filled with Gram devices.

Series:
LG introduced its Gram laptop to the world four years ago with the intention to produce notebook as featherweight as possible. With the same noble intention of making it as light as possible, LG has brought forward its 2020 Gram lineup into the market. The extremely light weight of the laptops is due to the fact that the laptops are built with a specially designed, innovative magnesium-alloy frame. Apart from the light weight, this new series has also retained its Gram’s hallmark feature by retaining the svelte form factor. However, this new 2020 series has gone through quite a number of upgrades to cater for the high price tag.
The new Gram series has been introduced with four models which ranges from 14 inches to 17 inches display size along with a 2-in-1 system embedded within it. This opens the possibility for users to choose the best model which caters the individual’s preference and personal interest. As far as the battery capability is concerned, it should be noted that the 14 inches model has retained a similar battery size as the Gram series predecessor which is 72Watt-hour battery. While the 15 inches and 17 inches model cater an 80Watt-hour battery, the 14 inches model is believed to be able to operate at its best with the smaller battery due to its smaller display size. As for the 80 Watt-hour battery, LG claimed that it can provide 17 to 18.5 hours battery life after full charging. However, the real experience with the battery longevity still needs some testing in real-time with real user experience.
Despite the varying battery sizes, all four models of the Gram 2020 laptops have been enhanced with a ‘Mega Cooling’ thermal management system. This is known to be able to improvise the entire user experience and the overall performance of the models. The 17 inches model is incorporated with 16GB of RAM while the other models comes in with 8GB of RAM. The 17 inches model do have some variation due to its bigger display size. Even with the display resolution, the 17 inches sports a 2560 x 1600 display while the other models carry 1920 x 1080 display. This will obviously cater for different viewing quality and user’s viewing pleasure as well. But again, the experience itself is entirely subjective depending on the taste and interest of the individual involved.
In addition to the ones mentioned above, the Gram 2020 lineups also feature Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 3 port. While some might not consider the inclusion of Thunderbolt 3 a must, those who are gamers at heart would definitely rejoice with this addition in the laptop built. The reason being is that Thunderbolt 3 allows the connection to a more powerful external GPU which is worthwhile when it comes to gaming needs for some users. So, the Gram 2020 series can cater for both personal and professional use as well.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

75.83%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
