More details about Insta360's first drones have emerged online. Allegedly sporting two fisheye lenses, one unreleased drone can produce 360-degree images. Meanwhile, a second drone is said to utilise several design innovations that keep its arms and motors out of shot to make it seem 'invisible' in photos and videos.

DJI is expected to encroach on Insta360's stomping ground before the end of the month by releasing an alternative to the latter's X5 360-degree action camera (curr. $549.99 on Amazon). Based on recent leaks, Insta360 is preparing to respond with its first consumer drones, too.

On the one hand, it seems that Insta360 has created a DJI Mini alternative, full details of which we have covered separately. On the other hand, it appeared that Insta360 was prototyping a DJI Flip or Neo competitor too. According to new patent filings, the latter may lean on Insta360's experience at creating 360-degree action cameras to distinguish it from DJI's popular consumer drones.

Specifically, Mauro Tandoi has noticed that Insta360 is developing its compact drone with dual fisheye lenses that can create a realistic-looking 360-degree image while minimising image overlap between the two lenses. Meanwhile, Insta360's other unreleased drone is said to feature detachable propeller guards and a modular design to aid repairability and maximise portability. Moreover, Igor Bogdanov claims that Insta360 has positioned the drone's arms and motors to keep both of out view when shooting photos and videos. A release date and retail name remain unknown for both drones at the time being, though.
