The city of Chongqing, which recently gained some popularity on video sharing platforms like YouTube and Facebook for its “endless last floors”, is now gunning for recognition as the 'capital city of drone light shows'. On April 19, the city launched the Glamorous Chongqing drone light show, the show runs every Saturday and on holidays. However, the Charming Chongqing drone light show, which was hosted to celebrate the 28th anniversary of Chongqing becoming a municipality, towers above the rest.
The performance was divided into themes around Chongqing's natural beauty, culture, urban life, and energy — featuring scenes like City of Mountains and Rivers, Blooming Camellias, and Dynamic Metropolis. Some scenes are fixed, while others were dynamic; one of the dynamic scenes showed what appeared to be a pod of dolphins diving in and out of water.
We had to adjust for high and low terrains, manage signal transmission over long distances, and synchronize multiple base stations to ensure a flawless display. — Qin Haiqun, deputy general manager of Shenzhen Damoda Intelligent Control Technology.
The use of drones in celebrations, including government-related and private events, is a growing trend around the world. This practice has penetrated into all continents of the world and more companies are looking to dominate this field. The drone show market is expected to hit a valuation of $2.63 billion by 2033.
