IKEA’s new smart home sensors roll out to more countries worldwide
The IKEA VALLHORN and PARASOLL smart home sensors are now available in more countries globally. The gadgets were first revealed last June in FCC filings, with the company officially announcing the products in November. The devices launched earlier than expected in December, though they were only available in a few countries like France and Sweden.
The VALLHORN Wireless motion sensor is a battery-powered device that you can use to trigger up to ten smart lights. The gadget can be used indoors or outdoors, mounted to a wall or placed on a shelf. The PARASOLL Door/window sensor can also trigger a smart light when a door is opened or notify you when one is opened unexpectedly. This is a battery-powered gadget too, with options to mount the two parts of the product side by side, opposite or perpendicular to each other. The VALLHORN and PARASOLL work with the DIRIGERA hub, allowing you to connect other smart home gadgets in the IKEA Home smart app.
Customers in the US can now buy the VALLHORN Wireless motion sensor, smart/white for $8.99, with the gadget retailing for £8.99 in the UK and CA$12.99 in Canada. The motion sensor is also available in more EU countries, like the Netherlands and Spain, priced at €9.99. The PARASOLL Door/window sensor, smart/white is now available in additional European countries, costing £9.00 in the UK and €9.99 in the Netherlands and Spain. It is unclear when the PARASOLL will launch in North America.
