Huawei has issued the first software update for the global version of the Watch GT Runner, which we reviewed earlier this month. Launched outside China in January, the Watch GT Runner has a 1.43-inch AMOLED display and offers up to 14 days of battery life. As its name suggests, Huawei markets the Watch GT Runner towards runners, although it includes all core smartwatch features too.
According to Huawei Ailesi, the Watch GT Runner has received HarmonyOS 2.1.0.219, which is a 61.30 MB download. Please note that you must update the Watch GT Runner through the Huawei Health app; for some reason, you cannot download HarmonyOS 2.1.0.219 directly. We would recommend only updating your Watch GT Runner if it is recharging or has at least 50% battery life remaining.
As the screenshot below reads, Huawei has added support for replying to messages from third-party applications. Like on many Apple Watch Series smartwatches, Huawei has enabled quick replies and not a full-width keyboard. Still, the feature could be useful to those who want to use their smartphone as infrequently as possible.
Additionally, Huawei claims to have improved the listening experience on its Music app and overall system stability. HarmonyOS 2.1.0.219 should be available now to download through Huawei Health to all but the Chinese version of the Watch GT Runner.
