Huawei Mate 70 series rumored to feature dual OS options, including Android support

Huawei cannot use Google Mobile Services (GMS) due to ongoing US trade sanctions. The company uses its own operating system, HarmonyOS. However, Huawei is now preparing to launch HarmonyOS NEXT, a new operating system that abandons the Android framework, meaning there is no support for Android apps.

For Chinese users, the abandonment of the Android framework may not be a big issue. However, the situation is different for global users. The absence of Android apps will be a major issue for users in the global market.

Fortunately, Huawei may be considering a solution to this problem. According to leaker RuiPlaysDigital, Huawei could use a "dual-framework" software setup for the Mate 70 series in the global market. For those unaware, the Mate 70 series is an upcoming flagship smartphone lineup from the Chinese tech giant.

The leaker says that the Huawei Mate 70 series will have two software frameworks. The first will run Huawei's own HarmonyOS NEXT, while the second will support Android applications. By adopting a dual-framework approach, Huawei could cater to a global audience. However, this does not mean that GMS will be available for the Mate 70 series, but there will be the possibility of downloading Android apps via APK files.

Currently, Huawei has not officially acknowledged the "dual-framework" software setup. Therefore, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. Huawei will officially announce details about HarmonyOS NEXT on October 22.
