Huawei Mate 70 preorders now live
Earlier today, new details regarding the upcoming Mate 70 family of smartphones surfaced online via Weibo. While pre-orders are already live, the Mate 70 lineup is only targeting the Chinese market for now. The list of devices that will surface on November 26 consists of the vanilla Mate 70, its Pro and Pro+ siblings, as well as the high-end Mate 70 RS Extraordinary Master Edition (also labeled "Ultimate Edition" by some sources, which is more likely to be a name fit for the English-speaking markets, after all).
According to the aforementioned Weibo post, the list of models that will join Huawei's existing portfolio of products is quite long. For example, the Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro will sport up to 12 GB of memory and a whopping 1 TB of internal storage. The Mate 70 Pro+ takes things up a notch by going up to 16 GB of memory. While the vanilla model sports 66 W fast charging, all the others get 100 W charging.
When moving to the camera department, all aforementioned models will feature a 50 MP main shooter. However, the additional sensors depend on the model. While the Pro model sports a 50 MP telephoto camera, the basic model's similar shooter only sports a 12 MP sensor. The entire family sports a 16 MP infrared camera on the back and a front-facing 13 MP selfie shooter.
Depending on the model, the color choices might be different. While the Mate 70 can be pre-ordered in black, white, green, and purple, the Pro+ is available in silver, white, black, and blue. The top-of-the-line Ultimate Edition is only coming in red and black.
While powered by the potent Huawei Kirin 9100 chipset, the Mate 70 lineup comes with HarmonyOS Next, which is sadly not compatible with Android apps. If these handsets will go global next year as suggested by multiple rumors, Huawei should find a good software solution to make them appealing from this perspective as well.
For now, those who want to get a taste of the Mate lineup can snatch the Mate 50 Pro (8/256 GB, International Version) in black off Amazon for $675 instead of $899 thanks to the ongoing 25% discount.
