Honor has just released its first Magic5-series member - however, it is far from the rumored Pro or Prestige Editions. The world's initial glimpse of the OEM's next flagship line-up also lacks the rumored camera hump upgrade, although it falls in line with the latest offerings from the brand on the Chinese market in this regard.
Accordingly, the Magic5 Lite looks most like the X40, and indeed has most of the same specs. They include a 6.7-inch 120Hz display driven by the Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 5,100mAh battery and a USB 2.0 type-C port rated for 40W charging. Both devices use them to run Magic UI 6.1 based on Android 12.
Then again, its new thin-ring rear camera outline camuflages a last-gen 64+5+2MP set-up, as opposed to the more up-to-date 50+2MP rear shooters of the X40. The Magic5 Lite does have double the selfie camera resolution at 16MP, although its f-stop is 2.5 compared to 2.0 of the vanilla X-series flagship.
Honor now invites consumers in markets such as France to "Unleash the Power of Magic" by pre-ordering a 5 Lite from February 20, 2023. It starts at €379 (~US$405) for a 6GB RAM/128GB internal storage unit in Midnight Black, Emerald Green or the hihonor.com exclusive Titanium Silver colorway.
