Sony has started pushing Android 13 to the Xperia 10 III, a mid-range smartphone it released in June 2021. While Android devices tend to receive at least two OS updates these days, Sony only committed to delivering a single OS update for the Xperia 10 III. The company delivered upon that commitment and looked to be ending software support in June with the device's final security patch.
The release of Android 13 for the Xperia 10 III suggests that Sony had a change of heart at some point, which the company now officially acknowledges in its Xperia 10 III Help Guide. Sony has not officially confirmed when the Android 13 update will be available globally. However, XDA Developers reports that the OS update is already rolling out at 62.2.A.0.367.
62.2.A.0.367 is a surprisingly small update package, as one screenshot below highlights. For some reason, 62.2.A.0.367 is less than 1 GB download, despite containing a major OS update. Additionally, 62.2.A.0.367 contains the January 1, 2023, Android security patch rather than the newer February edition. The Xperia 10 III should receive all key Android 13 features that Sony has afforded its other Xperia handsets, such as a new music widget, a per-app language toggle and a revised lock screen, among other changes. Please see Sony's Help Guide for more details.
