The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is not expected to launch this month, with Xiaomi using MWC 2023 to introduce the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Xiaomi 13 Lite globally instead, as well as the Buds 4 and Watch S1 Pro. Still, an alleged Xiaomi 13 Ultra prototype has surfaced on Weibo with a design that builds on its predecessor, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. For reference, Xiaomi elected against releasing an Ultra-branded smartphone last year, with the Mi 11 Ultra the most recent model to be available officially outside the company's home market.
It is worth stressing that the image embedded below is not verified and could have been photoshopped in one way or another. Either way, the design shown is thought to represent what retail Xiaomi 13 Ultra units will look like, with a large circular camera housing like its predecessor. However, Xiaomi has enveloped the camera housing with vegan leather.
Theoretically, this would allow the camera housing to protrude less from the back of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra than on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, with a raised area giving the appearance of the camera housing sitting closer to the rear case. Based on earlier rumours, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will launch with four rear-facing cameras, with two 1-inch sensors to distinguish it from the Xiaomi 13 Pro and its predecessor. Unsurprisingly, Leica branding remains, which also adorns the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra appears to support 90 W wired fast charging too, details of which leaked earlier this month.
